  HEC was incorporated in 1989. Cathleen Colella began designing and implementing an aggressive marketing and sales program and managed HEC’s client development programs since 1991. Her initial efforts have built a strong client base and set a strong foundation for HEC’s growth and success. Cathleen became the President and co-owner of Hazardous Elimination Corporation (HEC) in February of 1996.

In an effort to meet and exceed industry standards for quality and environmental assurance Cathy enrolled in an ISO collaborative affiliated with Merrimack College and currently operates under ISO 9001 quality policies and procedures and an ISO14001 Environmental Management System.

As a union contractor with unlimited man-power, we specialize in the removal of all hazardous materials including asbestos, lead and mold. Our mission is to provide for the safe removal of hazardous materials, to protect the safety of our work force and the public and to secure the environment against contamination.

Cathy is a member of many trade and community associations: Professional Women in Construction (PWC), National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), New York Women’s Agenda (NYWA), Association of Builders and Owners (ABO), NYC Partnership Chamber of Commerce, Greater New York Construction Users Council; and the Institute of Real Estate Management. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the New York Building Congress, Board of Governor’s of the BTEA, the Small Business Board of the New York Federal Reserve Bank, and is the treasurer and former president of the Environmental Contractor’s Association. Cathy is also a member of the Environmental Task Force for the Business Owner’s & Managers Association (BOMA), the Council of Presidents, the CEO Club and Harvard Business School Alumni Association. Most recently she was asked to serve on the Boy Scout’s Great New York Development Committee.

Cathy possesses a BA from Boston University School of Liberal Arts and a MBA from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration. She is married to Dr. Henry V. Colella, has one daughter (Cathleen Graham married to Gordon (Gus) Graham) and two grandchildren, Olivia and Harrison.
